Lawn Management Seminar will be held on November 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Virkim located at 718 Sun Valley Blvd in Hewitt. One General CEU will be given to pesticide applicators. Casey Reynolds, Turf Specialist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, will be the speaker. Topics will be application of pesticides/fungicides and management of weed and disease in turf grasses. Farm Bill Update will be held on October 30 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2547 Jerry Mashek Drive in West, Texas, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Jason Johnson, Associate Professor and Extension Economist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, will provide an updton the new farm bill. McLennan EE 4-H Scholarship Fundraiser – The McLennan EE ladies are having a breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, November 8, from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Applebee’s located at 614 N. Valley Mills Drive. Tickets are $8 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available at the Extension Office located at 420 North 6th Street in Waco. 4-H Food Challenge will be held on November 3. Teams of 3-5 members create dishes using only a predetermined number and amount of ingredients. From these ingredients, team members must develop a recipe and prepare the dish. Teams then make a presentation to a judging panel, explaining the preparation steps, serving size, nutritional value, and cost of the dish. The contest is open to junior, intermediate, and senior 4-H members. Juniors and intermediates can be on the same team, but seniors can only be on a senior team. … Read More →
4-H Food Show will be held on November 3. The food show is an individual contest where 4-H’ers prepare dishes in one of the contest categories (grain, diary, fruit, vegetable, or protein) and present them to a panel of judges. During the presentations and interviews, 4-H’ers exhibit the knowledge and skills gained through the 4-H Food and Nutrition project. Holiday Classic Livestock Clinic and Prospect Show will be held on November 8-9 at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton, Texas. The Holiday Classic is open to all 4-H and FFA members. Participants must attend Saturday clinics to participate in Sunday showmanship and prospect shows. Please see flyer for schedule and more information.
