4-H Adult Volunteer Task Force and Club Manager Meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 13, at 6:00 p.m. at the County Extension Office. All adult volunteers are encouraged to attend and become more involved with the planning and development of the McLennan County 4-H program.
McLennan EE 4-H Scholarship Fundraiser – The McLennan EE ladies are having a breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, November 8, from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at Applebee’s located at 614 N. Valley Mills Drive. Tickets are $8 and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available at the Extension Office located at 420 North 6th Street in Waco. 4-H Fashion Show will be held on Thursday, October 16, at 6:00 p.m. at the County Extension Office. Entries are due Friday, October 10. District Fashion Show will be held on November 18 in Belton. For more information, call the Extension Office at 254-757-5180.
4-H Food Challenge will be held on November 3. Teams of 3-5 members create dishes using only a predetermined number and amount of ingredients. From these ingredients, team members must develop a recipe and prepare the dish. Teams then make a presentation to a judging panel, explaining the preparation steps, serving size, nutritional value, and cost of the dish. 4-H Food Show will be held on November 3. The food show is an individual contest where 4-H’ers prepare dishes in one of the contest categories (grain, diary, fruit, vegetable, or protein) and present them to a panel of judges. During the presentations and interviews, 4-H’ers exhibit the knowledge and skills gained through the 4-H Food and Nutrition project. Holiday Classic Livestock Clinic and Prospect Show will be held on November 8-9 at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton, Texas. The Holiday Classic is open to all 4-H and FFA members. Participants must attend Saturday clinics to participate in Sunday showmanship and prospect shows. Please see flyer for schedule and more information. Cooking Well With Diabetes Class Series will be held on October 14, 21, and 28 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service located at 420 North 6th Street in Waco. The classes are for people with diabetes, their family members, and caregivers. Those interested in diabetes prevention are also welcome to attend depending on availability of spots. State Swine Tag Orders are due September 29 by 4:00 p.m. to the County Extension Office located at 420 North 6th Street in Waco. Cost for tags is $10 each. Broiler Orders for the county show are due by October 1. You must pay when placing your order. Checks must be made payable to Riesel FFA and mailed along with order form to Kevein Wunderlich, Riesel High School, 600 E. Frederick Street, Riesel TX 76682. Money Boot Camp will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Emergency Service Education Center located at 7601 Steinbeck Bend Road. The camp is designed to provide information for parents and students getting prepared to finance a college education. The program is free, however, pre-registration is required.
